Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle of Zamfara has approved the creation of Women Affairs Department in all the 14 local government councils of the state.
This is contained in a statemen to newsmen in Gusau by the Information Officer of the Ministry, Suleiman Isah Gusau.
According to the statement, the creation of Women Affairs Departments will help in bringing women closer to the government.
It adds that, the Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry for Women and Children Affairs, Hajia Barira Ibrahim Bagobiri says, the proposed Women Departments will be headed by indigenous women after their creation.
She explains that the creation of Womens’ Department in Local Government areas shows Governor Matawalle’s concerned for women development.
The statement also advised women in the state to appreciate the gesture and support Governor Matawalle in his efforts to be reelected for second term in office in the 2023 general elections.
