Nigeria Police Command in Sokoto state says it is working out modalities toward ensuring peaceful conduct of 2023 general elections in the state.

The state Commissioner of Police Muhammad Usaini Gumel stated this at the end of the year conference with police Tactical and Operational Commanders in the state.

He said the aim of the conference was to assess the current security situation, ongoing campaigns by political parties, behavior of the candidates and voters across the state.

According to the him, at the end of the conference, the Command would come up with better ways of reinforcing its preparedness towards creating the desired security environment in the state.

The Commissioner expressed the command’s gratitude to the relevant security agencies that supported the command in its effort to maintaining peace and security in the state.

Gumel also acknowledged the contributions of Journalists to the police command’s quest of maintaining security in the state.

In a related development, the Police Officers Wives Association Sokoto state Chapter has distributed relief materials to widows and less privilege in the state.

Presenting the relief materials, the Chairperson of the association in the state, Hajiya Aisha Usaini Gumel said a total of two hundred bags of assorted grains were disbursed to the less privileged members of the association.

Hajiya Aisha disclosed that the relief materials were provided by the Sokoto state government, adding that the association is working closely with the state Ministry of Women and Children Affairs for security and economic development of women and children in the state.
