Federal House of Representatives Candidate for Kaduna South on the platform of Labour Party, Ezekiel Baba has promised to sponsor 52 students through university education if elected in the 2023 general elections.

Addressing Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) interactive session with legislative candidates of the Labour Party in Kaduna state, Baba said he would also priorities policies that would boost education and empowerment of women and youth.

The candidate said he would fund extramural classes for WAEC and NECO candidates and creation of skill acquisition centers across the constituency.

“I intend to sponsor 52 university graduates four from each of the 13 wards of my constituency at the end of my four year tenure. We intend to create skill acquisition institutions across the 66 constituencies in the state,l. We intend to engage youth and women, we would train and empower them. We are going to be committed to our oversight functions and to dedicate ourselves to achieving the best. We want to encourage education in our constituency.”

For Labour Party senatorial candidate for Kaduna North, Malam Ibrahim Sidi Bamalli, addressing insecurity through job creation is key. “We would tackle security through employment using agriculture. Lots of youth and women would be engaged actively through entrepreneurship and skill acquisition to lift them out of poverty. We would ensure implementation of anti-corruption laws to address other challenges in the state”.

The Labour Party senatorial candidate for Kaduna South, Engr. Michael Auta planned to seek abolition of the law which puts first class chiefs under local government chairmen to uplift them and enable them take their rightful position in the society. “We will ensure decent minimum living wage is paid. We will abolish the law which puts first class chiefs under local government chairmen to empower the traditional institution and end insecurity”.

Mrs Elizabeth Barnabas, who is contesting for the Kaduna State House of Assembly from Zango Kataf under Labour Party, women and youth empowerment topped her plans. “I’m contesting as the voice of women across the state. We want empowerment of women in the grassroots, scholarship for students, we would work to ensure that the traditional rulers cone back to power and are given responsibilities to keep peace and ensure security of their domains”.
