Nigeria is to strengthen Military bilateral relations with France to address the level of Insurgency in the country and the West African region in general.

The Director of Policy, Defence Headquarters, Major General Usman Yusuf stated this in Abuja on behalf of the Chief of Defence Staff, on the fourth round joint Military Nigeria-France Staff talk held at the Defence Headquarters on Tuesday.

General Yusuf explained that the talks should have taken place two years ago, but due to Covid-19 pandemic the meeting was postponed till this year.

He stressed that due to the influence of France to the French speaking countries around Nigeria it became imperative for stronger relations to tackle the menace in the region.

The Deputy General Director for International relations and strategy, France, Admiral Christophe Lucas emphasized stronger synergy between both countries which France was willing to do for better security in the region.
