Critical stakeholders from various ministries departments and agencies in Niger state have been directed to study and reflect on the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey MICS twenty twenty one report and come up with a policy and programme options that would enable the state move away from it’s current position.
Niger state Governor Alh Abubakar Sani Bello gave the directive at the sensitisation and dissemination of Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey MICS twenty twenty one held in Minna.
Represented by Secretary to the Niger State Government Ahmed Ibrahim Matane the Governor maintained that though result of surveys can sometimes dampened their perspective but what the findings are showing you is just a true reflection of what you are.
Alh Abubakar Sani Bello further said it is more like putting a mirror infront of you therefore breaking the mirror does not change anything but instead a time for you to go back and draw some intervetion on the way out of such problems.
He however assured the National Bureau of Statistics that of state it’s collaborator UNICEF and state ministries of Education Women Affairs Health as well as Water and Sanitation of continued government support at all times to change the narrative.
State Commissioner of Planning Alh Zakari Abubakar assured ministries departments and agencies of the commissions readiness to support them technical inputs to achieve meaningful result.
In his submission the Statistician General Alh Abdulganiyu Bello explained that Niger state has been backward when compared to other states from North Central zones interms of exclusive breastfeeding open defecation and nutrition called for the intensification of supportive supervision and feed backs to address the existing gaps.
UNICEF Officer Kaduna field office Mr Donald Morris gave an assurance that the fund will continue to collaborate with relevant bodies to improve the lives of women and children.
