Elected Chairmen in Niger state have been advised to remain closer to their constituents and not to be Chairmen on diaspora who lives in the urban areas but chose to visit their local governments when there are monies to be disbursed.

Chairman Niger state Independent Electoral Commission Alh Baba Aminu gave the advice while presenting certificate of return to twenty four out of twenty five local government council Chairmen and councillors in Minna.

Alh Baba Aminu reminded them that their positive performance at the grassroots would help strengthen our democracy while failure to do that would ultimately lead to more apathy against democracy and the process of democratic governance.

He would also wants them to be honourable in their conduct and character as well as that of their conscience and constituents to succeed in their assignments.

Alh Baba Aminu however commended Governor Abubakar Sani Bello for remaining a true democrat by allowing the commission to exercise her independence in carrying out mandate.

The only female Chairman of Bosso local government council hajiya Ladidi Bawa in her remarks said she would focus on women empowerment and girl child education to improve their standard of living.

Also speaking the youngest Chairman from Agaie local government council Ibrahim Aliyu Sayuti added that education will be accorded priority in his administration while youths would be re oriented for effective service delivery.

Certificate of return for Katcha local government council has been withheld.
