The nigeria union of journalists,national orientation agency NOA Kano chapel,has organized a sensitization workshop on dietary requirements to stay fit.
Speaking to newsmen, chairperson NUJ, NOA Kano chapel Hajiya Suwaiba Adamu Salihu, said the program was organized to enlighten the staff of the agency, on the recommended nutritional intake to prevent life threatening diseases.
She highlighted that, chief orientation and mobilization officers from the grassroots,were also invited to do the step down training for the society to stay fit.
Hajiya Suwaiba appreciated the efforts and commitment of the NUJ officials which assisted in making the program a reality.
“Many of our colleagues yearning for the replica of this program, and apart from the lecture we have presented gifts to the management and Nuj Chairperson who served under NOA Kano”
Presenting a paper, chairman institute for dietetics Nigeria (IDN), Kano branch Auwal Musa Umar said nutrition education becomes necessary to prevent non communicable diseases.
He described inadequate knowledge of recommended dietary intake as a major catalyst to detrimental health status in Nigeria and Africa at large.
The chairman said, as re-orientation officers, NOA has a vital role to play in disseminating the knowledge gained to the public to achieve a healthy society.

Meanwhile NUJ, NOA Kano also donated gifts to the outgoing state director, Alhaji Lawal Haruna Makarfi as well past and present management staff of the agency.
In his remarks, the outgoing NOA state director,described the sensitization as apt.
He noted that, health is sometimes different from food intake as dieticians/nutritionists are in the best position to guide the public on proper nutritional intake.
Alhaji Lawal Haruna said, the agency would look into the issue of organizing such sensitization program on a monthly basis, for the development of the staff.
The state director, applauded NOA NUJ for organizing the sensitization and for the gifts presented to him, serving and former management staff.
Radio Nigeria reports that, the sensitization campaign witnessed large turn out of NOA Kano staff,NUJ kano officials, past and present management of the state office,media and the general public.
