Minister of Aviation Alhaji Hadi Sirika, says all is set for the national carrier, known as Nigeria Air, to begin full domestic operations before the end of this year.

He made the statement while defending the ministry’s 2023 budget before the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation in Abuja.

Alhaji Hadi Sirika, explained that the national carrier would begin domestic operations this year, while international flights would begin as soon as necessary approvals and certifications are secured.

The minister who expressed concern over high cost of aircraft maintenance , noted that many bilateral and multilateral air services agreements have been signed for the benefit of Nigerians travelling to other countries in the world.

He confirmed that the Aviation sector has recorded significant achievements in virtually all areas under President Muhammadu Buhari administration.

The Buhari government has provided the safety and security needed in the aviation sector, which has led to the certification for the first time ever in the history of the country’s Murtala Muhammed International Airport and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

The testimony according to him was part of the concern and focus placed on safety which led to an unprecedented growth, making aviation the fastest growing sector of the Nigerian economy.
