Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 54-year-old man, Mr. Ojo Joseph for setting ablaze five of his step children at Fagun crescent area of Ondo town in Ondo State.

Radio Nigeria gathered that the man had a quarrel with his wife who happens to be the mother of the children.

The man allegedly poured petrol into the children’s room while they were asleep and set the kids on fire leaving one of them burn to death.

Four other victims are currently receiving treatment at Federal Medical Centre, Owo while their mother and 18-month-old twins escaped from the inferno with minor injury.

Confirming the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Funmi Odunlami said the man had been apprehended by the police for a case of alleged arson and murder.
