The federal government has reaffirmed it’s determination in empowering women and youths with skills acquisition training aimed at boosting their daily income geared towards reducing the dependence on natural resources as a means of livelihood.

The Director General of the National agency for the great Green world Dr Bukar Hassan stated this during the opening ceremony of the skills acquisition training programe of one hundred women and youths from Gombe,Adamawa, and Bauchi states held in kano.

Dr Bukar Hassan who was Represented by the Director Mobilization of the agency Alhaji Ahmed majidadi Bagudu said the training activity which was flagged up two months ago by the minister of environment ,targeted at empowering the vulnerables with skills acquisition, which will complement their income from the agricultural sector.

He said the programme was meant for eleven states of the federation were the weather and the climate was not friendly any longer, especially at this era of climate change.

Dr Bukar Hassan maintained that fourty youths were from Bauchi,while thirty each from Gombe and Adamawa states would be trained on tailoring , knitting,perfume making and soap making,saying at the end of the training the agency would offer starter parks to the participants aimed at making them to be self releint.

He explained that the programme cut across eleven states in Nigeria ,starting from kebbi to Borno states,aimed at addressing the challenge of rural urban migration and unemployment.

In a remark the Acting Director department of Rural development and extension services of the agency My chindaba Noshaya represented by the head of media Mrs Pauline sule said the training was very timely geared towards combating the challenge of desertification in the affected areas .

She urged the participants to utilize the apportunity aimed at achieving the set objectives.

The participants would undergo rigoruius training by experts for a number of days before their graduation.
