Former Anambra governor Peter Obi was declared the winner of the Labour Party (LP) presidential primary on Monday in Asaba, Delta state.

Pat Otomi, a political economy professor, Eragbe Anselm, the LP’s national youth leader, and Olubusola Olufolake had earlier withdrawn from the presidential race.

Obi resigned from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the Labour Party on Friday, which Atiku Abubakar eventually emerged as its presidential candiadate for the 2023 elections.

He will face former Kano governor Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party for the presidency (NNPP). and Atiku.

The APC presidential primaries will begin from June 4th.
