Former Chairman, National Human Rights Commission Professor Chidi Odinkalu says he will appeal the judgment of Fundamental Human Rights proceedings against him by the Kaduna State Government.

His defense counsel Barrister Gloria Ballason stated this while speaking to newsmen after the judgment by Justice Peter Mallong of the Federal High Court Kaduna.

Barrister Gloria Ballason explained that there are straight grounds for appeal in the case so they will take the needed steps for justice and fairness.

Earlier in his judgement, Justice Peter Mallong held that the case was incompetent because it did not conferred jurisdiction on the court on fundamental rights case, so the court cannot determine all the rights pending before it.
“The case that was filed was of fundamental rights and the affidavit was deposed by a different person other than the applicant, so it was incompetent he added.

Professor Chidi Odin Kalu is accusing the Kaduna State Government of Infringing on his fundamental Human rights by filling a direct criminal complaint and court order without case numbers which is legally called secret trial.
