Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria has trained twenty five healthcare workers on Covid 19 Vaccines in Kaduna State.

The training was funded by Macarthur Foundation, the principal recipient is Pathfinder International and other partners.

Programs Officer for Access Projects under Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria, Jamila AbdulKareem explained that the training also focused on values clarification and attitude transformation change as well as value based communication.

She further explained that the training was to educate participants with value clarification and attitude transformation information on COVID-19 vaccination.

Jamila AbdulKareem said the aim of the training was also to build capacity of participants on value based communication between the healthcare workers and their communities.

Earlier, in an address, The Access Project Coordinator of Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria, Dr. Swomen George explained that the project was aimed at increasing the uptake of COVID-19 vaccine in Kaduna, Kano and the FCT.

He said in Kaduna State the project was implemented in six local government areas.

The local government are Kachia, Kaduna South, Igabi, Zaria, Sabon Gari and Makarfi.

Speaking to journalists, the facilitator at the training and Incident Manager State Primary Health Care Board and Director, Community and Family Health Primary Health Care Board Dr. Neyu Iliyasu said the participants were trained on different techniques while handling vaccines as part of efforts to support health sectors of Kaduna State and the country.

He suggested that local government areas should also be covered due to the importance of the training.
