House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating the status of refineries in Nigeria has issued a fresh summon to the GMD of NNPC limited, Mele Kyari and Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed.

The panel has also summoned the Minister for Petroleum, Timipre Sylva, the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele and the managers of the state-owned refineries.

The summon was issued by the committee, after the officials shunned the investigative hearing organised by the committee.

Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila had constituted the ad hoc committee in January with the mandate to determine the state of refineries in the country and what is needed to return them to maximum refining capacity, adding that the committee is to determine money spent on turnaround maintenance of the refineries.

During the hearing, the Chairman of the Committee, Ganiyu Johnson, says though the NNPC had submitted a written response which did not go well with the committee hence the summon of the GMD.

Other officials expected at the next hearing are the Accountant General of the Federation, Auditor-General for the Federation and the Director-General, Budget Office of the Federation among others.

The Chairman ruled that all the officials should appear before the committee next week Thursday.
