Kaduna state government says women can contribute meaningfully in solving security challenges in the country especially when they properly play their roles as mothers by inculcating good values in the hearts of their children.
Deputy governor of the State, Dr Hadiza Balarabe stated this at the Annual National Conference of the Initiative for Muslim Women of Nigeria held in Kaduna.
Dr Hadiza Balarabe said that, parents must put it at the back of their minds that peace and security starts from home.
According to her, drug abuse is a major driver of many heinous crimes being committed in society, stressing that,
government is spending huge resources on security to tackle the menace.
The Deputy governor noted that, Muslim Women must be involved in peacemaking processes at the religious and community levels to secure a partnership in peace-building process.
She commended the association for the wonderful work it is being doing in supporting widows, orphans, vulnerable children, and Internally Displace Persons, among many other humanitarian interventions.
Dr Hadiza Balarabe noted that, the theme for the conference which is “the Role of Islam in Curbing Insecurity, described it as apt, considering the numerous challenges confronting the nation.
She said the conference would afford the participants the opportunity to reflect on the challenges and contribute meaningfully towards finding practical solutions.
Dr Balarabe noted that, security threats manifest in the form of terrorism, banditry, armed robbery, kidnapping, violent conflicts, drugs abuses and many others which have slowed progress, and inflicted pains and injuries to many people.
In her address, the founder of Initiative for Muslim Women of Nigeria, Hajiya Rabi Safyan said the association was committed in propagating the teaching of Islam and supporting widows and other less previlege people in the society.
The 8th Annual National Conference Kaduna 2022 drew participants from various states.
