Kaduna State Government has commenced the payment of life insurance package to next of kins of staff who died in active service.

The State Deputy Governor Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe handed over the checks to some of the beneficiaries, under the State Life Group Insurance Sinking Fund in a brief ceremony held at Government House.

According to her, the sum of N148,397,630 has been approved in respect of 47 beneficiaries.

Dr Hadiza Balarabe noted that, the fund has alot of benefit to the families of those that lost their lives while in active service.

She further revealed that, the gesture was part of the reforms and policies put in place by government to ensure that, the families of the deceased workers enjoy the package.

She urged the beneficiaries to use it judiciously.

In a remark, the Executive Secretary Pension Board, Professor Salamatu Isa said the sinking fund is quite different from pension.

Professor Isa explained that, there was a committee that is managing the fund, saying that all the beneficiaries met the requirements.

In an Interview with newsmen, the State Head of Service, Hajiya Bari’atu maintained that, the next of kins of 47 civil servant who died from 2019 to date received a cheques under the group life insurance sinking fund.

Hajiya Bari’atu added that, the fund received by the beneficiaries depended on the salary and the number of years the deceased spent in active service.
