Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe said the state government has since inception set in motion mechanisms for gender balance through women and youth intervention programs towards achieving an all inclusive society for them to achieve their aspirations.
She cited some appointment of women and youths into critical political positions including other empowerment programs by the state government as examples.
Earlier, the Executive Director, Center for communication and social impact, Mrs. Babafunke Fagbemi lamented that over the years women and youths have been excluded from decision making positions which deprived them from making significant impact in the nation’s polity.
Mrs. Babafunke argued that the percentage of women participating in decision making bodies in Nigeria, is not proportionate with their population.
In her remarks, the Project Coordinattor, Legal Awareness for Nigerian Women Mrs. Hanatu Ahuwan emphasized the need for building the skills of women and youths by Civil Society Organizations to enable their active participation in politics.
