Niger state council of the Nigeria Labour Congress NLC and Trade Union Congress TUC has directed all its affiliates in the state to proceed on seven day warning strike over inability of the state government to meet their demands.

This is contained in a communique signed and issued to Newsmen by NLC Chairman Comrade Yakubu Garba during an expanded State Executive Council SEC meeting in Minna.

According to the communique the seven day warning strike is due to lingering payment of salaries of Civil Servants in Niger state on percentage.

It however directs its affiliates in the state to commence the industrial action effective midnight Sunday, the 6th of this month, while those operating in the local government council’s are to proceed on strike effective midnight of Thursday 3rd of this month.

NLC in Niger state also expresses shock over the lack of concern by Governor Abubakar Sani Bello led administration on the plight of primary school pupils and teachers who have been at home for eight weeks now in protest of payment of salaries on percentage without government response.
