A non governmental organization Tearfund in collaboration with Yola Renewal Foundation (YRF) has commenced a zero plastic pollution campaign in Yola.


The programme manager Ilugo Cletus made this statement while speaking to Radio Nigeria, during their sensitisation and awareness campaign in Yola.


Ilugo Cletus explained that, trash to cash is a project aimed at turning plastic waste to economic opportunities in order to reduce marine ocean litters known as micro plastic going into river Benue that empty itself into Atlantic ocean through river Niger.

He further said, the project is supported by Nowagian Agency for Corporation and Development through Tearfund office in Jos, with partners in Yola in order to transform plastic waste into useable products such as interlocking, bricks block, plates and chairs.


Project manager Yola Renewal Foundation Jimmy Lot, expressed appreciation to the Nowagian agency for corporation and development on its efforts towards environmental sustainability in Nigeria.


He also commended the efforts of the state government for its kind support and cooperation towards the actualisation of the project.


The entire women and youths in the state were urged to participate actively in the trash to cash business for survival.
