The Registrar General (RG) of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Alhaji Garba Abubakar, has bagged the “2021 Nigerian Newsdirect Award of Excellence for Exemplary Leadership in Public Sector Administration”

A statement by the Head Media Unit of the CAC Rasheed Mahe, in Abuja, said the award was in recognition of the reform initiatives being implemented by the Commission.

Rasheed Mahe explained that the Nigerian Newsdirect publication presented the Registrar General with the Award at a ceremony to mark its 11th anniversary in Lagos.

At the event, a member of the editorial board of the publication Dr. Samuel Ebiyemi, who presented the award, highlighted a series of reform initiatives undertaken by Garba Abubakar since his assumption of duty at CAC.

Dr. Samuel Ibiyemi said the decision to honour the Registrar, took a comparative of different CEOs in the country, government agencies, and actors and drivers of the Nigerian economy anchored on indices of quality, due process, and sectoral impact.

He added that the RG had been piloting the affairs of CAC efficiently through the introduction of a series of reform initiatives pursuant to CAMA, 2020.

According to Ibiyemi, the introduction of electronic signature, electronic certificate with QR code, one-man company, the amalgamation of incorporated trustees with similar objectives, disclosure of persons with significant control among others are some of the milestones recorded by the CAC under Abubakar’s stewardship.

He noted that the full digitization of CAC operations had not only enhanced effective and efficient service but also reduced fraud and other related activities in the system to the barest minimum.

Responding, the CAC Registrar General, Alhaji Garba Abubakar thanked the Media for finding him worthy of the award and pledged to continue implementing laudable reforms to ensure the Commission was at par with some of the best company registries across the globe.

Represented by the Head, CAC Registry Department, Ladi Abubakar, said the Commission would spare no effort to ensure its customers enjoyed efficient services in the coming months.

Also at the event, the National leader of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) and Former Governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu delivered a keynote address through his representative, the Lagos State Commisioner of environment, Honourable Tunji Bello.

Radio Nigeria reports that the governors of Osun, Ogun, Borno, and Nasarawa states were also honoured at the event, which was well attended by captains of industry, politicians, and top government functionaries.

Other awardees included the NDLEA Chairman, NNPC Managing Director, DG NIMASA, and Speaker of the House of Representatives.
