Imo State Police Command says the Son-in-law to former Governor of the State, Chief Rochas Okorocha is in custody.

In a statement, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Micheal Abattam said contrary to reports that the former governorship candidate of the Action Alliance was abducted it was the Police that arrested him.

He gave an assurance that the Police was committed to ensuring the safety of lives and property during and after the yuletide.

The Statement was however silent on the reason for the arrest.

There was a panic on Sunday when armed men stormed St Peter’s Anglican church at Eziama Obaire and took away Chief Uche Nwosu, the son-in-law to Senator Rochas Okorocha, in Nkwerre local government area of Imo state.

The gunmen dressed in police uniform, according to a report, interrupted the outing service of the late mother of Chief Uche Nwosu who was buried on Wednesday last week and started shooting sporadically before taking away the Chief of Staff to former Governor Okorocha.

Chief Nwosu who was the governorship candidate of the Action Alliance in twenty nineteen elections in Imo State was bundled into the back of a vehicle and whisked away to an unknown destination thereby creating an atmosphere of fear in the community.

Some eyewitnesses however perceived the incident as an arrest from very high-security authorities especially when the security personnel attached to chief Nwosu did not make any attempt to resist the abduction of their principal.
