Police Bans FSARS, Other Tactical Squads From Routine Patrols

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu has banned personnel of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) and othe tactical squad from routine patrol.

Other squads include the Special Tactical Squad (STS), Intelligence Response Team (IRT), and the Anti-Cultism Squad.

They are banned from carrying out routine patrols and other conventional low-risk operation at the Federal, Zonal and Command levels. a statement by the IGP on Sunday said.

It says also that they are to no longer be involved in duties – like stop and search, checkpoints, mounting of roadblocks, traffic checks, etc – with immediate effect.

According to the statement no personnel of the Force was authorized to embark on patrols or tactical assignments in mufti.

IGP Adamu ordered the X-Squad and the Monitoring Unit to embark on immediate and massive nationwide monitoring of activities of Tactical Squads and other police officers on the road.

He has equally warned, that Commissioner of Police in charge of FSARS, and State Commands, as well as supervisory Zonal Assistant IGPs, will be held liable for any misconduct within their area of responsibility. RN
