National Universities Commission NUC has ranked the Federal University Dutse as the overall best Federal University in the Northwest zone of the country.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Abdulkareem Sabo Mohammed disclosed this to Radio Nigeria in Dutse, the jigsaw state capital.
According to him, the ranking report released by the NUC showed that FUD emerged as the 18th overall best University in Nigeria and number 1 in per capital H- index among federal universities in the northwest geo-political zone.
He explained that the Commission had also ranked the University in first Google scholar presence among universities in the region.
Professor Abdulkareem Sabo Mohammed expressed happiness over the ranking and commended the management, staff, and students for efforts towards making the institution what it is today.
‘This latest ranking is a call duty for the staff and students to strive harder so that the University will emerge as the best University, not just in North West but in Nigeria in the near future’ the Vice-Chancellor noted.
It could be recalled that last year Radio Nigeria reports that, Scimago a research-based group in Spain ranked FUD as the best among the 23 universities in Africa and Number 1 in Nigeria.
