Governors of northwestern states have been advised to put up a unified approach against banditry in the zone.

Katsina State Governor Bello Masari gave the advice in Abuja while speaking to State House correspondents after he led a delegation of elders form Katsina to a closed- door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.

Governor Masari noted that the bandits would always have an edge and enough spaces across the zone to unleash terror if states continued to fight them separately.

He said Nasarawa and Niger States had begun to collaborate with Katsina to close up on the bandits, and called on the other states in the zone to join forces with them against the terrorists.

Commenting on the recent killing of one of his Commissioners, Governor Masari said the incident had nothing to do with banditry, adding that preliminary investigation reveals that it was purely an assassination case.

The Governor assured the family of the deceased and indigenes of the state that security agents were working hard to unravel the cause of the murder.
