Emir of Hadejia and chairman of the Jigawa state council of Chiefs, Dr. Adamu Abubakar Maje has described flood disaster experienced in parts of the state as an act of God.

The Emir made the assertion when he paid sympathy visit to the flood victims in Auyo local government area.

Dr. Adamu Abubakar Maje called on the federal and state governments to take urgent measures to control the menace of flood that occurs annually in the state.

He advised people in his domain to always clear culverts, drainages and ensure regular environmental sanitation to avert flooding.

In a remark, member House of Representatives representing Auyo/Hadejia/Kafin Hausa, Alhaji Usman Ibrahim Kamfani appealed to federal government to dredge Hadejia River and provide embankment along the coast of the river to prevent flooding.

Earlier, the chairman of Auyo local government council, Alhaji Umar Musa Kalgwi represented by his Deputy, Bilyaminu Adamu Kafur commended the state government for its quick intervention to assist the victims.

He reaffirmed the council’s commitment to provide foodstuff and canoes to people affected by the flood to cushion their suffering.
