Zamfara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has conducted its 147 wards congress across the 14 local government areas.

Addressing newsmen shortly after the ward congress in Gusau, the acting chairman of the party, Col. Bala Mande retired, said the members adopted the consensus method, and there was no agitation.

“The congress was conducted peacefully because there were adequate security operatives across the state,” he added.

According to Bala Mande, there was nothing like parallel congress, stressing that the electoral committee from the party’s headquarters commended members for conducting themselves in orderly manners.

He also appreciated the effort of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, security agencies and other stakeholders for making it become a reality.

When asked to comment on the PDP chances of forming government in the state comes 2023, the former military governor said the conduct of the congress indicated that the party was on the ground in Zamfara State.

He urged the teeming supporters of the PDP to remain steadfast, saying the fact that APC stole their mandate, did not mean that they would not reclaim it again.
