Federal Civil servants in Grades 12 and below have been told to return to work on Wednesday, December 1, 2021.

Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan, said in a statement on Saturday that the directive was issued in response to the recommendation of the Presidential Steering Committee on COVID-19.

According to the Committee’s recommendation, the vaccine mandate policy has been authorised by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Civil servants are required to demonstrate proof of COVID-19 immunisation or to present a negative COVID-19 PCR test result obtained within 72 hours, according to the statement.

The federal government had on March 4, extended the work-from-home directive for Grade level 12 and below due to the surge of the COVID-19 infection in the country.

Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on COVID-19 and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, had announced that effective December 1, unvaccinated Federal Government workers will not be allowed access into any public offices, to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
