The Provost College of Education Minna Niger state Professor Muhammad Yakubu Auna has identified inadequate funds and illegal mining as major factors militating against smooth operation of the college.

The Provost stated this at the combined convacation press briefing held at the Etsu Yahaya lecture hall in Minna.

Prof Muhammad Yakubu Auna explained that though they have recorded some successes they still want to achieve a lot but lack of funds are always the major problem.

He lamented that their school fees has consistently continue to be low for over fifteen years as students pay between twenty one to twenty three thousand naira.

According to him the College of Education Minna pays four point one million naira on monthly basis to Power Holding Company of Nigeria PHCN in addition to the settlement of water bills and other necessary items.

On illegal mining he said Niger state College of Education Minna is lying on a gold mining site with lot of illegal mining going on in the college.

He maintained that illegal mining degraded environment which will definitely affect both staff and students negatively.

Prof Muhammad Yakubu Auna said though on their part they have deployed the services of Vigilante members to scare and chased those engaged in illegal mining at the college premises however added that a total of three thousand six hundred and fifty five students are to be graduated this Saturday.
