House of Representatives is to exclude the National intelligence agencies from the envelope budgetary system to strengthen its operational capacity and confidentiality in information sharing.

Chairman House Committee on National Security and intelligence Alh Sha’aban Sharada, announced this during the 2022 budget defence of the office of National Security adviser in Abuja.

Alha Sha’aban Sharada, observed that there was need to intensify efforts in intelligence gathering and inter agency collaboration to eliminate disturbing national crimes like banditry, insurgency and kidnapping whose operations are propelled by information procured, circulated and mismanaged by undesirable members of the society.

He said, Considering the way insecurity was taking international dimension with reported banditry, killings and boarder crimes, National Intelligence Agency (NIA) must be equipped to intensify efforts in response to the prevalent security across the West African Sub region.

The committee Chairman who was recently elected President General to preside over security and Defence committees of the African Parliaments, assured the Intelligence community that he will use the network to enhance security of lives and property across the African continent.

Alh Sha’aban Sharada, furhter advised the National Intelligence Agency NIA to collaborate with the Network of African Parliamentarians of Defense and Security Committees to benefit from its deliberations in furtherance of national, regional and continental security trends.
