Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano has presented a proposed Budget of 196 billion Naira for 2022 fiscal year to the State House Assembly.

The Governor presented the proposed Budget during the house Plenary held in Kano.

The Budget tagged Budget of Prosperity and Consolidation has the Sum of over 107 billion Naira representing 55% as capital Expenditure,while the the sum of over 88 billion Naira Representing 45% is for recurrent expenditure.

He said education being one of the top priority of his Administration received the highest Allocation of over 51 billion Naira, Equivalent to 26% percent of the whole budget estimate.

The Governor explained that the sum of over 33 billion Naira has been earmarked for development and construction of Underpass ,Flyover Bridges,and various road construction across the state.

He maintaied that the sum of over 15 Billion Naira was set aside for the health sector, While Agriculture will gulp the sum of 5 billion Naira.

Other sectors that received maximum attention includes Enviroment, Commerce, Security, Tourism, Rural Development, water supply , Information and Transport among others.


Speaking during the budget presentation, the speaker of the Kano state house of assembly Alhaji Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari said the assembly has passed the Kano state supplementary appropriation bill 2021, Kano state debt management bill, Kano state community reorientation council amendment law 2013, as well as the Kano state tourism amendment bill among others.

He said other bills due for passage include the Kano house of assembly funds management bill 2021 and the kantin kwari market corporation bill 2021.

Alhaji Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari reiterated the house commitment in organizing a public hearing on the proposed budget and charged heads of government’s ministries, agencies and parastarals to prepare all the necessary Documents for defending the budgets of their respective agencies .

He pointed out that the legislatures will complement government’s efforts by expediting Action in ensuring speedy passage of the bill for timely implementation.

He urged heads of revenue generation agencies in the state to put more efforts towards achieving their targets as the state has been affected by the corona pandemic socially and economically.
