
Jigawa State Government says over 230 people died in a different fire incident in the last 6 years across the state.
The State Commissioner of Works and Transport, Aminu Usman Gumel disclosed this to newsmen at Manpower Development Institute, Dutse.
He explained that, within the 6 years the state Fire Service directorate had received over130 emergency fire calls from different parts of the state.

According to him, from 2015 to date they have received 130 emergency calls and about 230 human lives was lost while 45 person were rescued as a result of fire incidents.
The Commissioner further explained that properties worth 205 million naira was damaged and over 513 million naira properties were also saved within the period under review.
He said most of the fire incidents emanated from electricity, indiscriminate burning of fire at residential areas and farmlands without control.
Aminu Usman Gumel, therefore warned people of the state to be careful especially as the harmattan is approaching.
