Bandits in Zamfara State are suffering from the new security measures embarked upon by Zamfara State Government.

Commissioner of Police, Zamfara State Police Command, CP Ayuba Elkana made this known in Gusau.

He said, the bandits abandoned their victims as a result of shortage of food in the forest.

CP Elkana noted that One of the rescued victim, Mudassiru Zakiru was among the 71 kidnapped from Rini Village in Bakura Local Government.

According to him, the victims in captivity were kept in Bayan Ruwa Forest of Maradun Local Government Area of the State from were the victim sneaked out and escaped to the Police on operation in the area.

In an interview with Radio Nigeria, the rescued victim, Mudassiru Zakiru ‘Male’ 37 years, said the hardship and hunger experienced in captivity could not be imagined as there was no food, medical treatment and they were being traumatized.

Mudassiru Zakiru said, they eat cooked leaves and some times very small millets.

The rescued victim was malnourished and emaciated.
