The Nigera Labour Congress has congratulated Nigerian workers, the people and Government on the occasion of Nigeria’s 61st Independence Anniversary.

A statement by NLC President, Comrade Ayuba Wabba says the contributions of Nigeria’s working class to national development, peace and unity has remained outstanding.

The statement recalls the high hope and aspirations of many during Independence in 1960 and expresses confidence that despite the challenges facing Nigeria, it shall definitely attain its enviable place in the comity of nations.

It urges politicians to prioritize nation building instead of focusing on politics and self-aggrandizement.

According to the statement, the symptoms of the break in our progress march still stare us hard in the face and appealed to the political class to address the deteriorating malaise such as insecurity, unstable economic growth and work only for the greatness of the country.
