Zamfara State Inland Revenue Service has adopted ways to generate revenue for positive impact of the state economy and the country at large .

The Director Administration of the board Muhammad Lawal Mukhtar announced this while answering questions from newsmen in Gusau, the state capital.

He said Governor Bello Mataalle of the state has accented revenue mobilization bill into law for proper collection and utilization of the state revenue to avoid possible leakages.

Muhammad lawal further explained that the revenue had increased after careful review of the laws mandated the board to collect and utilizes the state revenue with a view to increase internally generate revenue for the state to execute developmental projects.

Commenting on the issue of motorcycles riders demonstration, the Director Administration said the problems and misunderstanding was between them and their Union leaders and not with the board specifically.

Muhammad Lawal noted that, the board was working towards modernization of the system of collecting and utilization of the state revenue electronically to meet the global challenges and lift the state out of poverty.

According him, the board will soon commence data capturing and registration of the motorcycles riders and vehicles across the state to secure lives and properties of people of the state.

Speaking on the recent increase of the motorcycle’s revenue from twenty naira to fifty, he said the increase became necessary considering the economic meltdown following COVID 19 pandemic that jeopardised social and economic activities of the state and the country in general.
