The Kano State Fire Service has confirmed the death of a 20 year old man, Ahmed Ali of Larabar Abasawa village in Gezawa local government area.

Narrating the incident to newsmen, the Public Relations Officer of the Service Saminu Yusif Abdullahi said the agency received a distress call at 13:38 pm from Isah Abdu that a man had fell into a pond.

According to him, a rescue team was quickly mobilized to the scene of the incident where the victim was evacuated from the pond unconscious and later confirmed dead.

In a similar development, the agency had also succeeded in aborting a fire outbreak after a petrol tanker loaded with about 65,000 litres of petrol lost control at Zungeru Road Sabon Gari Kano.

The public relations officer pointed out that, personnel of the agency who specialized in such operations succesfully transferred the PMS into another tanker.

He charged the public to be more vigilant and maintain safety at all times by abiding to traffic rules, using fire and electric appliances with care to avoid inferno as well as ensuring that children desist from local swimming among others.
