The Katsina Vocational Training Centre has empowered 315 youths with skills acquisition training and business kits as part of efforts to reduce unemployment and insecurity in the state.

The centre which was founded by the late M.D Yusuf, focuses on empowering youths, women and physically-challenged persons through training on various vocations and the provision of business capital to enable them become self-reliant.

The empowerment program was organised to mark the International Youths Day, 2021, which has the theme, “Transforming Food Systems: Youth Innovation for Human and Planetary Health”.

The KVTC program which was held at the Katsina State Secretariat has the theme, “Role of Youths in the Security and Good Governance in Nigeria”.

A paper presented at the occasion stressed the need for youths to avoid engaging in crimes and other social vices and become vanguards of social change in their communities.

The coordinator of the centre, Malam Muhammad Danjuma Katsina, explained that the business kits presented to the 315 graduate trainees will serve as take-off support to enable them established various businesses and vocations.

He said “this will empower them to become self-reliant, we have admonished them to be dedicated in their chosen business careers in the hope that they would become employers of labour in the near future.

“It is only through vocational trainings and empowerment programs like this that we can reduce the unemployment burden in Katsina which will contribute to the efforts in fighting insecurity”, Danjuma said.

He also thanked those that donated the business kits that were presented to the graduate trainees.

The business kits include sewing and knitting machines, fashion designing machines and take-off capital.
