The British Government, through the Commonwealth Development Office in Nigeria says it has spent the sum of £130million in supporting the Kano State government in the area of strengthening strategic partnership for achieving the sustainable development goals.

Speaking at the opening of a one day meeting on Mutual Accountability Frame Work(MAF) between the Commonwealth Development Office(CDO) and the Kano State Government held at the Africa House, Government House Kano ,the Director, Mr. Chris Pikroft stated that the Ganduje administration had demonstrated high commitment on achieving the desired objectives of the Sustainable Development Goals.

He said the British Commonwealth Office is using the concept of Mutual Accountability Frame Work to gauge the level of commitment of the States selected for the British Government Programme On Strategic Partnership which comprised of Kano, Kaduna and Jigawa States.

He said despite the negative effect of the Covid-19 Pandemic, the support given to the Kano State government would remain steadfast, considering the spectacular result achieved by the State in the promotion of sustainable development goals.

In his remarks, governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State said the concept of Open Government Partnership(OGP) has emboldened his resolve in fighting corruption with vigour and unwavering commitment, stressing that the creation of the State Public Complaints and Anti Corruption Commission has opened the floodgate for those serving in respective position of authorities to buckle up in upholding the virtues of public trust.

He noted that the concept of the Strategic Partnership has strengthened his resolve to focus more attention on consolidating his administration’s policy on free and compulsory education at a time when the education sector is in dire need of great investment.
