National Agency for Food and Drugs, Administration and Control- NAFDAC has commenced scrutiny of the potential remedy drugs for COVID 19 submitted by Nigerians.
Director-General of NAFDAC Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye who confirmed this in Abuja, explained that the submissions were made after the agency called for expression of interest for COVID-19 related medicines from researchers.
She maintained that the four applications would be thoroughly examined in line with NAFDAC’s mandate, so as to ensure safety of the drugs.
The DG was of the view that instead of spending huge amount of money to buy drugs from Madagascar, the agency would rather prefer that such money to be spent on herbal remedies produced in Nigeria.
