National President of the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union- SOKAPU Mr. Jonathan Asake has called on Nigerians to support the needy and respect all advice given by experts, regarding the COVID-19 Pandemic.

He stated this at the distribution of palliatives to first batch of Two hundred vulnerable persons and orphanage homes in Kaduna.

Mr. Asake explained that the gesture was the first phase of the distribution arrangement which was designed to reach vulnerable persons as a result of the COVID-19 lockdown.

“We have started the distribution with more than Two Hundred people. We will continue as more donations arrive from donors. We intend to reach out to Orphanages because they rely only on persons manning the orphanages who also have their own challenges due to the lockdown. Another category are displaced persons. The distribution is not only for people from Southern Kaduna alone”

The SOKAPU President emphasized that among those that donated food items were the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Yakubu Dogara, the Senator representing Southern Kaduna, Mr. Danjuma La’ah and other well spirited individuals.

Mr. Asake cautioned the people not to look at the lockdown directive issued by constituted authorities as punishment but as a measure to save lives and ensure the safety of Nigerians.

In a remark, Chairperson of the COVID-Nineteen pandemic palliatives for the organization Mrs Lauratia Laraba Mallam prayed for God’s blessings to the donors and commended government efforts aimed at protecting  Nigerians against the pandemic.

Items distributed included: Rice, Beans, Spaghetti, Indomie, Macaroni Corn Powder, Hand sanitizers and Face masks.
