Federal Ministry of Agricultural and Rural Development in collaboration with Japan International Agency have provided free farm inputs to rice farmers in the country.

In a symbolic presentation of the imputs in Sokoto,the state coordinator Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Alhaji Abdulmajid Sule said the inputs was given to ten key rice producing States in the country.

He said the move was aimed at boosting the ongoing efforts by the federal government on its various intervention programs to alleviate the impact of Covid-19 pandemic and to increase rice production in the country.

Alh.Abdulmajid explained that each rice farmer received a complete inputs to cultivate one hectare of land.

He stressed that a total of one hundred and fifty rice farmers in each of the targeted states have benefited from the program.

Responding, Sokoto state commissioner for Agricultural, Professor Abdulkadir Usman Junaidu expressed Sokoto state appreciation for the gesture.

He said the free inputs would greatly enhances rice production in the state.

The Commissioner cautioned the farmers not to sell the inputs, adding that mechanism was put in place to fish out anybody that sold the items.
