Fulani communities in Kwara state have called on the state government to investigate the recent attack on their settlements by irate youth.

The people of Oke Ero and Irepodun Local Government Areas of Kwara state also said that none of their people are involved in kidnap activities in the areas having lived there over a hundred years.

It is recalled that youth in the two local government areas had sacked about four Fulani communities in the area on allegations that one of the suspected kidnap kingpins arrested security officials is of Fulani stock.

Speaking through their spokesperson, Alifa Dan-Fulani Modibbo, the people said that they had been victims of kidnapping in the area on several occasions.

He said a Fulani family of three was kidnapped few weeks ago with one of them killed by their abductors after collecting N3million ransom.

Modibbo explained that property worth N300 million, including cars, 2,000 cows and cattle, 50 houses, a hotel among others was destroyed and looted by the youth.

The spokesperson appealed to the federal government to investigate the matter towards ensuring peaceful coexistence between Fulani and their host communities in the state.
