The United Nation Population Fund has rated Kano State among the leading states in fighting covid 19 pandemic in the country.

Team Leader of the UNPF, Dr Hamzat Shuaibu stated this while presenting some personal protection equipment and reproductive health kits among other items to Kano state Government at the Mohammad Abdullahi Wase General Hospital Kano.

Dr Hamzat Shuaibu said the UNPF selected ten states to be supported under the United basket fund ,of which Kano state was among the states that would be supported.

” Many women were been affected by the covid 19 pandemic,there is an increase in Gender base violence in many homes in the Nation ,as well as distruption in the social economic growth of the general populace, that’s why United Nation population fund decided to support the state with PPE’s, Reproductive Health kits and dignity kits to 50 facilities in Nassarawa and Tarauni Local Government Areas of the state”

“This is not the first time we are donating these kind of equipments,other commodities would soon arrive the state , we are also implementing the civil society engagement project in addition to the risk communication and community engagement project”

Responding, Kano State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Aminu ibrahim Tsanyawa who applauded the United Nation Population fund for selecting Kano state among the beneficiaries in the country.

He said the donations would play a vital role in health care delivery in the state and would be judiciously utilized .

“I am sure this support you are according to Kano state is making alot of impact, especially in reducing our worrisome indicies in terms of maternal mortality and Gender base Violence”

Dr Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa said Government was spending huge of amount of funds in ensuring that the pandemic was curtailed In Kano, adding that it would not relent in ensuring that the fight against Covid became a success.

The total estimated value of the equipment donated was twenty five million Naira.
