The Vice President of Industrial Global Union ,Comrade Issa Aremu has urged state Governments that are planning mass sack of workers to reconsider and withdraw their plans in view of the present economic situation and the rising unemployment rate in the country.

Mr. Aremu made the call while speaking at the breaking of Ramadan fast with Journalists in Kaduna.

He called on them and particularly the Kaduna state government to instead diversify the economy, generate more income and reduce overdependence on federal allocation.

According to him, the rising unemployment rate, inflation and poverty are contributing to banditry and criminality in the country.

Comrade Issa Aremu posited that Labour should be seen as an asset and partner by government.

The labour leader commended the present administration for his labour friendly policies as witnessed in the approval of thirty percent salary increase to workers, retaining the workforce and negotiating with labour and urged state governors to emulate such approach.
