Federal government has spent over 87 Million naira on the establishment and rehabilitation of water schemes in 8 LGA’s of Jigawa State during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Minister of water resources, Engineer Sulaiman Adamu made this known while handing over the projects to benefitting communities and launching of a training organized for water scheme operators to handle the facilities at Shuwarin in Kiyawa local government area.

Engr Sulaiman Adamu represented by the North-West coordinator of the ministry, Engr Sunusi Mai Afu, expressed appreciation to the state Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency RUWASA , and the benefitting LGAs for support and cooperation in ensuring successful completion of the projects.

He urged participants to make good use of the training for effective operation and maintenance of the facilities.

In a speech, the permanent Secretary, ministry of water resources, Engr Gambo Mallam, said the state was leading others on the provision of portable water to its citizens.

Gambo commended the federal and state governments for their commitment to boost water supply.

Also speaking, the Managing Director of RUWASA, Engineer Labaran Adamu congratulated the benefittimg communities, and urged them to safeguard the projects.
