President of the Nigeria Union of Teachers-NUT, Comrade Audu Titus Amba says the Union will work closely with the NLC and other labour bodies towards ensuring a new minimum wage for workers.
He stated this in his acceptance speech, shortly after his re-election for second term, at the 8th quadrennial National Conference of the Union held in Enugu State.
Comrade Audu Titus Amba listed improved welfare of teachers, professionalism and quality education as priorities of his administration in the coming years.
He called on the Federal Government to urgently address insecurity around schools and ensure the safety of learners and teachers to guarantee educational emancipation.
The National President, who described his renewed mandate as a call to greater responsibility, thanked teachers nationwide for the confidence reposed on him and assured them of a transparent and open-door policy.
In a message to the event, Governor Uba Sani commended Comrade Amba for his dynamic and prudent leadership style.
Represented by his running mate in the forthcoming election, Comrade Jerry Adams, the Governor thanked Nigerian teachers for their confidence and trust in the illustrious son of the Kaduna State, while expressing optimism about his ability and credibility to move the Union forward.
The Conference with the theme: “The deployment of Technology and Artificial Intelligence in Education: Will it erode the place of Teachers in the Classroom, A myth or Reality?, drew over five thousand delegates and education administrators from across the country.
