The Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Jibril Ismail Falgore, has called on the people of the state to promote peace, unity and tolerance as they commemorate the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
The Speaker made the call in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai.
Falgore described the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as a complete embodiment of mercy to humanity, saying his life remains an example of humility, compassion and exemplary moral conduct.
He urged the Muslim faithful to use the occasion to reflect on the teachings and virtues of the Noble Prophet, particularly his emphasis on justice, tolerance, spiritual guidance and peaceful coexistence.
The Speaker also called on religious scholars, traditional and political leaders, as well as other stakeholders, to promote unity and tolerance among the people ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
He said adherence to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) would contribute to peaceful coexistence and strengthen the bond of unity among Nigerians.
Falgore expressed appreciation to the people of Kano State for their continued support and cooperation in maintaining peace and harmony, irrespective of religious or ethnic differences.
He noted that mutual respect, understanding and peaceful coexistence are among the values promoted by Islam and exemplified by the life of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
The Speaker reaffirmed the commitment of the 10th Kano State House of Assembly to enacting quality and people-oriented legislation aimed at improving the lives of citizens and advancing the development of the state.
Falgore also prayed to Almighty Allah to grant Kano State and Nigeria peace, stability, happiness and continued progress.
