The Kano State House of Assembly has warned individuals and Non-Governmental Organisations against erecting illegal structures on government-owned land without obtaining necessary approval.

Chairman of the seven-member special committee investigating alleged encroachment on landed properties belonging to the Kano State Agricultural and Rural Development Authority, KNARDA, and the Kano Agricultural Supply Company, KASCO, Muhammad Bello Butu-Butu, gave the warning during an on-the-spot assessment of the affected properties.

Muhammad Bello, who also doubles as the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, said the government would not tolerate the erection of structures on its properties without following due process.

He also cautioned individuals against vandalising government facilities and other public properties.

The Deputy Speaker stressed that whenever the Federal, State or Local Government establishes projects for the benefit of the people using public funds, it is the collective responsibility of citizens to protect such facilities.

The committee inspected some of the affected areas in Dabar Kwari, Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area, and Wudil Local Government Area.

Recall that the inspection followed the constitution of a seven-member ad hoc committee by the Kano State House of Assembly in July 2026 to investigate alleged encroachment on landed properties belonging to KNARDA and KASCO across various local government areas of the state.
