The Emir of Kauru, Zakari Ya’u Usman II, has called on residents of the Kauru Emirate in Kaduna State to uphold unity, vigilance, and peaceful coexistence as Muslims celebrate Eid al-Fitr.

The monarch made the call in his Eid message delivered on Friday, March 20, 2026, marking the end of the Ramadan fast.

He thanked Allah for granting the faithful the opportunity to witness the festival in good health and high spirits.

Speaking on security, the traditional ruler acknowledged improvements in the area but warned that threats such as kidnapping and related crimes still persist.

He urged residents to remain vigilant, protect their communities, and report suspicious movements, especially involving unfamiliar individuals.

Zakari Ya’u II emphasised the need for unity among all residents, regardless of religion or ethnicity, noting that collective responsibility remains key to sustaining peace and security in the emirate.

On peace and social harmony, the Emir described peace as the foundation of development and cautioned against spreading rumours capable of inciting violence.

He urged residents to continue living together in mutual respect and understanding.

The royal father also stressed the importance of public health, encouraging residents to maintain proper hygiene, keep their environment clean, and seek prompt medical attention when necessary.

He further highlighted the need for preventive healthcare, including routine immunisation, particularly for children and pregnant women, in line with ongoing public health campaigns.

On education, the Emir of Kauru called for stronger commitment to both modern and religious learning, urging parents and youths to prioritise knowledge as a foundation for personal and societal development.

He also advocated self-reliance, especially among youths, encouraging them to acquire vocational skills rather than depend solely on government employment, adding that government initiatives, including farmers’ associations, should be fully utilised.

The monarch commended Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, for developmental efforts in the area, including road construction, plans to improve electricity supply, and measures to enhance security, while also commending the Chairman of Kauru Local Government, Hon. Bashir Tanko Dawaki, for his commitment to grassroots development.

He appealed for additional government support, including the construction of key roads linking Kauru to neighbouring communities, increased agricultural assistance for farmers, and the establishment of a secondary school in Kauru town.

Zakari Ya’u II called for the continuation of renovation work at the Kauru Emirate Palace, particularly the second phase, to address structural challenges and improve safety.

The Emir prayed for peaceful Eid celebrations, continued good health, and the acceptance of acts of worship performed during Ramadan.
