The Zamfara State Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Alhaji Nasiru Ibrahim Zurmi, has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in support of the state governor, Dauda Lawal.

Alhaji Zurmi presented his letter of resignation from the PDP and confirmation of his membership of the APC to the ward chairmen of the eleven wards in Zurmi Local Government Area.

During the event, several PDP ward leaders in the area also announced their decision to leave the PDP following the commissioner’s defection.

The leaders explained that although they had long been loyal members of the PDP and had never belonged to any other political party, they decided to join the APC in solidarity with Nasiru Zurmi and in support of the current political developments in the state.

The development is expected to further strengthen the APC’s presence in Zurmi Local Government Area and the state at large.
