The Jigawa State Executive Council has approved the payment of ₦74 million as compensation and resettlement for persons affected by the construction of the Yargaba Army Barracks.

In a statement made available to newsmen by the state Commissioner Information, Alhaji Sagir Musa Ahmed said the approval covers the compensation and resettlement of 229 persons affected by the project.

He said, the Council further approved that the affected persons will be resettled through the allocation of
resettlement plots and farmland at designated sites, in line with established guidelines and government policy on displacement and resettlement.

Sagir Musa added that, this decision underscores the state government’s commitment to ensuring that citizens affected by public infrastructure
projects are treated fairly, adequately compensated, and resettled in a dignified manner.

He further explained that, the Council reiterated that the compensation and resettlement process will be carried out transparently and equitably, while relevant ministries, departments, and
agencies will ensure proper implementation in accordance with due process.
